Young Musician Foundation

YMF’s Los South Central Players is a community-based ensemble composed of students from the surrounding neighborhoods and our intermediate instrument classes at the YMF Center for Music and Creative Technologies (CMCT). Players in this ensemble have spent a number of years honing their skills on their instrument, and play a variety of genres, including cumbias, rancheras, oldies, pop and more. Together, they’ve presented at various events throughout the South LA area, including the Banc of California Stadium for the swearing-in ceremony of Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr. and the 28th Annual Central Ave Jazz Festival in 2023. Why YMF Los South Central Players? These students rehearse weekly at CMCT, which is located on Central Avenue, celebrating the tremendous legacy of LA’s Central Ave. jazz scene and its invaluable contributions to our nation’s artistic and cultural history.
