Getting There

Where is the festival located?

The festival is located along Central Avenue between MLK Boulevard and Vernon Avenue.

When does it start?

The 2023 Central Avenue Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday, September 23rd from 11AM to 7PM.

Please note: Certain activities and tents may have different hours of operation, and set times are subject to change.

Parking

Q. Where should I park?

Festival parking is extremely limited and we recommend using Metro or RideShare providers to travel to the festival.

Public Parking lots are available on a first come first served basis, the operating hours are 10am – 8pm. Please leave the festival in enough time to reach your vehicle. If you are late, you may be subject to lock out.

Q. Is there a designated Uber or Lyft pick up/drop off area?

No. However, we recommend either Central Avenue at Vernon Avenue or Central Avenue at Martin Luther King Blvd.

Q. I don’t want to drive or use RideShare. How would I get there by taking the LA Metro?

To plan your trip with LA Metro, visit https://www.metro.net/riding/trip-planner or call 1-800-COMMUTE to find the best route. The closest light rail station is the Metro Blue Line Vernon Station.

Q. What is the entry fee?

The Central Avenue Jazz Festival is FREE!

Q. Is the festival fully accessible for people of all abilities?

Yes! The festival will be fully navigable for persons of all abilities. We recommend disabled patrons to bring their own methods of transportation (wheelchairs, crutches, etc).

Festival Entry Policies

• All artists and set times are subject to change
• Bags and personal items may be subject to inspection
• Tent and vendor hours may differ from the actual festival hours
• We reserve the right to remove any person(s) who is disorderly and/or interferes with the enjoyment of the festival for other festival-goers.
• Coolers and chairs cannot obstruct walkways.
• The Central Avenue Jazz Festival allows only the service animals of disabled persons to enter the festival grounds. Service animal owners will be responsible for any damage or injuries that the animal causes. Service animals must remain with the owner at all times and must remain on-leash through the festival grounds.

Q. What Should I Bring?

• Your appetite and $$ to enjoy all of the amazing food and merchandise from our fantastic vendors
• Patience
• Comfortable shoes for exploring all of the different vendors and activities that the festival has to offer
• Clothes suitable for warm September weather
• A good attitude and love for Jazz music!
• Your friends and family
• Personal/ non-professional cameras to take photos with friends
• Hats and visors to protect from the sun
• Sunscreen
• Reasonably-sized strollers
• Small blankets
• A smile!

Q. What Should I leave at home?

• Things that will obstruct other festival-goers’ view of the concert such as: large umbrellas, tents, tarps, etc.
• Drugs and/or drug paraphernalia
• Weapons of any kind and other contraband
• Public Intoxication
• Alcohol
• Barbecue pits/ grills
• Professional video and audio equipment
• Bad attitude!
• Wagons or pull carts
• Pets
• Glass
• Inflatable items
• Personal transportation devices (skateboards, segways, scooters, hover boards etc.)
• Unauthorized vending or solicitation
• Weapons of any kind
• Drones
• Boom boxes
